What Is a UK Fiancé(e) Visa?

The UK Fiancé(e) Visa allows the unmarried partner of a British citizen or person with settled status to come to the UK for up to 6 months to get married or enter a civil partnership.

Once you’re married, you can switch to a Spouse Visa from within the UK allowing you to stay long-term and eventually apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR).

Who Can Apply – 2025 Eligibility Checklist

To qualify for a Fiancé(e) Visa in 2025, you must meet the following requirements under Appendix FM:

  • You and your partner are both over 18.
  • You are engaged and genuinely intend to marry within 6 months of arrival.
  • Your partner is a British citizen, settled person, or has refugee status.
  • You have met in person.
  • You can financially support yourselves (no recourse to public funds).
  • You have adequate accommodation in the UK.
  • You meet the English language requirement (A1 level).

🔒 Secure & Confidential: All consultations and client data are fully protected under GDPR compliance and handled only by qualified AHJ Immigration advisors.

The New Financial Requirement (2025 Update)

The financial threshold for Family Visas including Fiancé(e) Visas increased to £29,000 per year in 2025.

If you’re sponsoring your partner, you’ll need to prove:

  • A gross annual income of at least £29,000, or
  • Sufficient cash savings (over £88,500) held for 6 months, or
  • A combination of both.

You can meet this through:

  • Employment or self-employment
  • Pension income
  • Rental or investment income
  • Cash savings

Example:
If you earn £25,000 per year, you’ll need at least £26,000 in savings (£16,000 base + £4,000 x 2.5 years).
