Our Scope of Immigration Advice and Services
Clear advice about what we can do, who will manage your case and when another specialist may be needed
Tell us where you are in your immigration journey and what you need to do next. Every case has its own facts, deadlines and evidence. We’ll take time to understand your circumstances, explain whether the work is within our scope and outline a suitable next step.
Who Provides the Service?
AHJ Immigration is the online brand of Knightsbridge Immigration LTD. Immigration advice and casework are managed through Knightsbridge Immigration Ltd. Your case is managed by a qualified immigration adviser authorised and regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA).
Before you instruct us, we’ll explain who will handle your matter, what work is included and whether any other professional needs to be involved.
What Work May We Be Able to Help With?
We may be able to advise on and assist with applications such as:
- Visit, family and partner visa applications
- Work and business immigration applications
- Student applications
- Further permission to stay in the UK
- Settlement and citizenship applications
- Other applications under the Immigration Rules or nationality law
These are examples, not a guarantee that we can take on every case in a particular category. We first need to understand your circumstances and check that the work is suitable for us to handle.
How Do We Decide Whether a Case Is Within Scope?
We consider the details of your situation before confirming whether we can accept instructions. This may include:
- The immigration route you are applying under
- Your current and previous immigration status
- Any previous refusals or other decisions
- Your deadlines and the time available
- The documents and evidence you can provide
- Whether the case involves issues requiring specialist legal advice or representation
A consultation can help us understand the broad position and identify possible next steps. It may not include a full review of your documents or a detailed written assessment. If more information is needed, we’ll explain what to provide and what further work may be appropriate.
When Might You Need a Immigration Solicitor or Specialist?
Some matters involve legal arguments, formal proceedings or issues that need a different kind of specialist advice or representation. Depending on the facts, this may include:
- Appeals, tribunal proceedings or litigation
- Judicial review or pre-action correspondence
- Complex challenges to a Home Office decision
- Cases involving difficult human rights or discretionary issues
- Matters where immigration history or a tight deadline needs further specialist assessment
If we cannot handle the work, we’ll explain why. Where appropriate, we can discuss a referral to one of our solicitor partners. We’ll clarify who would be responsible for the work and any separate engagement or fees before you decide how to proceed.
How We Manage Work We Accept
If we accept your instructions, we’ll confirm the agreed work and fees in writing. Depending on the service, this may involve:
- Understanding your circumstances
We review the information you provide and identify the application route and any relevant issues. - Planning the evidence
We explain what documents or information are needed for the agreed work. - Preparing the application
We help prepare the forms and supporting evidence covered by your service. - Checking the submission
We check the material within the agreed scope and explain any points that need your attention. - Explaining what happens next
We confirm the next steps after submission and explain any relevant Home Office communication covered by your service.
The exact work depends on the service you choose and the terms set out in your engagement documents.
What You Can Expect From Us
We aim to give clear explanations and deal with your matter carefully. We will:
- Confirm whether we can take on the work before you instruct us
- Explain what our service includes and what falls outside it
- Tell you if new information affects whether we can continue
- Raise evidence gaps or practical risks we identify
- Explain when a referral or specialist input may be appropriate
You’ll need to provide accurate information and requested documents promptly. Missing information, late replies or changes in your circumstances may affect the work and any agreed timetable.
Immigration Decisions Are Made by the Home Office
We prepare and manage work within the agreed service. The Home Office makes the decision on an application. We cannot guarantee an approval, a decision date or that the Home Office will not request further information.
We will explain any risks we identify and answer questions about the work we have agreed to carry out.
