When might an urgent consultation help?

A same-day consultation may be useful if:

Your visa is due to expire soon
You have an upcoming application deadline
You need to understand whether an application can be prepared in the time available
You are unsure which route to apply under
You need to discuss missing evidence or a problem with your application

Some people contact us with around 3 to 10 days before their intended submission date. This is only a guide, not a promise that we can take on or submit every case within that period. We need to consider the route, your circumstances, the evidence available and our capacity.

What does a same-day consultation include?

A same-day consultation gives us an opportunity to understand your circumstances, the application you are considering and the deadline you are facing.

We can discuss:

The application route you may be considering
Your current immigration status and key dates
What information or evidence may be needed
Whether there appears to be enough time for the work you are asking us to do
Whether the matter falls within our adviser’s authorised scope

A consultation does not automatically mean AHJ Immigration can accept the application work. We confirm suitability, scope, fees and the work involved before you decide whether to instruct us.

How we assess urgent cases

1. We look at the deadline

We’ll ask about your current status, the date you need to act by and what has led to the urgent request.

2. We check what work is needed

The time required depends on the application route, your immigration history, the documents available and any issues that need further consideration.

3. We explain what may be possible

We’ll be clear about what we can realistically do, what information is missing and any concerns about proceeding within the available time.

4. We confirm the next step and fee

If we can take on the work, we’ll confirm the scope and fee before you instruct us. Work starts only after suitability is confirmed and the required instructions and information are received.

What urgent support can and cannot do

We may be able to:

Offer a same-day consultation, subject to availability
Assess whether the requested work appears feasible within the available time
Prioritise preparation for an accepted case, where capacity allows
Explain evidence gaps, procedural points and possible risks
Prepare an application within the agreed scope and timeframe, if the required information is provided in time

We cannot:

Fast-track a Home Office decision
Guarantee that an application will be accepted, submitted by a particular time or approved
Prepare an application properly without the information and evidence it requires
Take on work outside our adviser’s authorised scope
Promise to meet a deadline before we have assessed the case and confirmed the work

If there is not enough time to prepare the application properly, we’ll tell you. We won’t ask you to proceed on the basis of a deadline we cannot responsibly commit to.

If your visa has already expired

Contact us promptly and explain what has happened. The options depend on your route, dates and immigration history. Do not assume that a late application will protect your status or that the same steps apply to everyone.

Some matters involving expired permission, overstaying or complex immigration history are outside our adviser’s authorised scope. If so, we’ll explain whether a referral to a solicitor partner is appropriate.

Why act as soon as you can?

Some immigration deadlines have important procedural consequences. The effect of a missed deadline depends on the application route and the facts of the case. Getting the dates and next steps checked promptly can help you understand your position before deciding what to do.

How quickly can AHJ prepare and submit an application?

It depends on the application route, the information and evidence available, the work required and our capacity. We’ll assess these points before confirming whether we can take on the work and what timeframe is realistic.

Can you guarantee that my application will be submitted before my deadline?

No. We’ll only confirm a timeframe after assessing the case and agreeing the work. We also need to receive the required information, documents and instructions in time. We cannot guarantee a Home Office decision by a particular date.

Can you help if my visa has already expired?

You can contact us, but the position depends on your circumstances. Some cases involving expired permission or overstaying fall outside our adviser’s authorised scope and may need referral to a solicitor partner.

Can I have a same-day consultation if I’m outside the UK?

You can ask about a remote appointment by phone or video. Availability depends on the consultation service and the information you provide.
